Why this site runs cold

The hero scene on this page is a single fragment shader: Earth's limb, three layers of aurora anchored to the horizon, and city lights clustered along its coastlines. No video file, no image carousel, no third-party scripts watching you read.

The render loop stops when the canvas leaves the viewport or the tab loses focus, the pixel ratio is capped, and visitors who prefer reduced motion get a single still frame. Fonts are self-hosted. There are no trackers, because we don't want to know.

None of this is heroic. It's just the position that a web page is a guest on your hardware and your battery, and guests should behave. The same position applies to everything else we make.
